Common questions
Does Steady need an account?
No. Steady has no sign-up, no login, and no ads. Your entries are stored on your device by default.
How do I export my records?
Open Settings in the app, find Data, and choose JSON backup or CSV export. You can then save or share the file with the iOS share sheet.
How do I delete my data?
Open Settings and choose "Delete all local data". If Apple Health saving is turned on, Steady also removes the Health samples it wrote. This cannot be undone, so export a copy first if you want one.
How does Steady use Apple Health?
Apple Health saving is optional and off until you turn it on. When it is on, Steady writes each entry's standard-drink estimate to the Alcoholic Beverages category in Apple Health, and updates or removes that sample when you edit or delete the entry. Steady never reads any data from Apple Health, never uploads Health data anywhere, and never shares it with anyone. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
Apple Health saving is not working. What should I check?
Turn it on under Settings in Steady. If you declined the permission before, open the iPhone Settings app, go to Privacy & Security, then Health, then Steady, and allow Steady to write Alcoholic Beverages.
What happens if I change my weekly goal?
Your earlier entries stay exactly as they were. Steady records the change so your history stays accurate, and future weeks follow the new plan.
Can Steady tell me whether it is safe for me to stop drinking?
No. Steady is a general wellness tool. It does not diagnose alcohol dependence, judge whether withdrawal is safe, estimate blood alcohol, or replace a clinician or an emergency service. Please speak to a doctor or a local alcohol service.
How do I request deletion of my personal data?
Steady has no account and stores nothing about you on our servers, so there is no remote record to delete. "Delete all local data" in Settings removes everything on the device. If you have a question about this, email mackenzie.alex@me.com.
